Art @ Telangana
Historically and culturally Telangana is a unique one whose history runs from B.C 500. GadhaSapthaSathi - a manuscript belonging to first century A.D compiled during the period of King Hala is an important event in Telanganas’ history process. Also are cities like Kotilingala and Kondapur which were once on the zeniths of perfection during the period of Sathavahanas.
Ramappa Temple built by the Kakatiyas is a symphony in stone. Buddhist sculptures of Nagarjuna Konda are world known art pieces. Temples and kings’ chambers expound countless mural paintings, epitomes of Jaanapada (folk) art like KaakiPadagalu and leather puppetry (TholuBommalu) are in the league of Telangana cultural heritage; the Deccan miniature paintings reflect the affluence of richness this land holds.
Painters like Devskar, P. T Reddy, Sayyad Ahmed, Sayyad Bin Muhammad, Kumarila Swamy, K. Rajayya, Kondapalli Sheshagiri Rao, Badri Narayan, Vasudev Kapatral and sculptors like Osman Siddiqi’s pieces of art are just invaluable.
Fifty years ago expert painters like Lakshma Goud, Surya Prakash,Gouri Shankar, Vaikuntham, Devaraj, D.L.N Reddy, Daroz, Ravindar Reddy, Chintala Jagadish, Kavitha and Narendra Rai are the forerunners in this league of pioneering painters. These have spread their works to every part of world and won applauds.
The next generation of artists are exhibiting their skill and proving themselves to the world. The newly budding artists are building their platforms and are ready for a jump start.
Telangana is a unique and self sufficient land historically, geographically, culturally and in areas of art and literature. The stature of Telangana is insurmountable. With this note that Telangana is an embodiment of perfected art, painting and sculptures. Its achievements are on par with any other cultures.
This event is to commemorate the many who have achieved outstanding success in the field of art. This is a gallery of those triumphant moments in art exhibiting those works.

STYLE
Reddy is a classicist turned modernist. He is a serious artist involved in a personal vision and committed to social concerns. His art is conspicuous for its strength, sensuousness and subjectivity. Reddy was inspired by the Post-Impressionist and other moderns particularly Picasso. The key strength in Reddy?s work is the process of integration, which often produces a synthesis of his influences. His works are not deliberately either figurative or abstract. His style is dictated by the nature of the subject and by his own preferences and in these there is no such thing as abstraction. He paints elegant and lyrical compositions of figures in a spontaneous style with emphasis on design and colour orchestration. To him visual experience means equation with environment. Reddy had a bright palette, the composition essentially constructive, the patterns being regular and geometrical.

Akbar
Statement
The basic concept of my work is the symbolic manifestation of the human experience. My paintings spoke the language of sensual images under consideration embody profound symbolic content from our "collective unconscious". My works are the interpretation of a mysterious bond, which is a nexus of the sensual and spiritual vistas, sensed by our emotions, though hidden from our eyes.
Biography
Akbar was born in Palvoncha, Khammam district in Andhra Pradesh. His paintings are the phenomenal proclaim of sensuality - as the vital force of life. His canvases are the metamorphic insight of the words of Colombian figurative artist, Fernando Botero , ‘... everything is more sensual, and one takes refuge in its beauty. And man needs spiritual expression and nourishing. It's why even in the prehistoric era, people would scrawl pictures of bison on the walls of caves. Man needs music, literature, and painting-all those oases of perfection that make up art-to compensate for the rudeness and materialism of life.’ Akbar is a self taught artist. All the hues of his palette were translated into an enchanted poetic tinge of merest colour of serenity. The transfluent strokes of his brush were explore into tranquill spheres of the inner self of one’s soul. He spent most of his early life in rural areas of Telangana and associated with many social movements like dalit, Telangana, feminist and alike. For these movements he gave his contribution interms of a number of illustrations, paintings, and cover designs. Having affinity with the Telugu literary world, He did thousands of cover designs for poetry and prose books. Akbar experimented with a few styles of painting, sketching reality as he saw it, and recording his perceptions through a series of selective drawings. His works represent the spiritual beauty of sensual expressions in a warm and endearing way.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT
For me…..The Process of painting originates from a sub-conscious state of mind, where the images stored in the psyche start taking shape into a form that is gradually built up, with the help of lines, textures, design, tone and colour into a ‘Work of Art ’.
The subject matter of my paintings is either nostalgic, or from imagination based on dreams, fantasies beautiful experiences of growing up and surroundings etc.
I enjoy creating beautiful compositions that transport the viewer into my world, with graceful female figures set amongst their natural environment, colour fully dressed in traditional attire, leisurely engaged in day to day activities, or participating in numerous rituals and festive celebrations that take place round the year.
Apart from these, most of the times there is a lone female figure in solitude, having a dialogue with nature, while a bird perched on a nearby branch watches silently.
The thought of applying myself to serious aspects of human existence occurred to me, but my attempts to portray them turned futile. Having realized my inability to find inspiration from the harder side of life, I reverted to my forte of painting ‘The Woman’ resplendent in all the glory as a tribute to the female form.

Annavaram Srinivas is a distinctive presence in the expanse and tangle of contemporary Indian art. Beginning with representational works marked by captivating draughtsmanship, he has moved on to an abstract style anchored in native themes expressed through a play of codified motifs.
Born in 1969, in Potharam village (district of karimnagar) in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, Srinivas belongs to a family involved in crafts and art since generations.
His formal education, culminated in an MSc degree in life sciences. His pursuit of a BSc degree in the same discipline from the Osmania University in Hyderabad, is when he spent considerable time at the JNTU University’s Art Department as a visitor, exploring trends and techniques in modern art.
His journey as an artist has been driven by an urge to capture the landscapes, lives and history of the region from where he hails. It is a part of the Deccan Plateau, regarded as semi arid tropics. It is a terrain of flat lands punctuated by rocky hillocks and seasonal streams.
The apparent barrenness of the region holds many marvelous passages of Indian history evident in the ruins of forts, palaces and places of worship renowned for their architecture and stone carvings. The socio-political history of the region too is an intricate tapestry of conflicts, feudal oppression and subaltern cultural expressions.
An overriding weave across the cultural heritage of the region is a reverential approach to all of nature. The natural blacks and burnt sienna of the landscape explodes into vermillion and yellow ochre displays, and floral extravaganzas accompanying rituals and festivities with the changing of seasons.
Srinivas has arduously searched for and found a singular idiom to engage with his provenance. His acrylic on canvas works have drawn inspiration from Australian aboriginal art in terms of a codification of abstract patterns to represent his native landscapes, life, conflicts and the intersection of past and present. The craft finds enigmatically enticing resonances with a consistent syllabary of iconic elements. They echo his training in life sciences. For instance are patterns that evoke sub-cellular organelles.
Srinivas’s paintings are discourses and narratives employing an ensemble of ordered abstract patterns. The colours have a definitive insistence and the fluency of his draughtsmanship is unmistakable.
In the past Srinivas has designed and illustrated books by acclaimed writers in the Telugu language. His posters and cartoons for social organization is an ouevre by itself.
His exhibitions include a well reviewed group show at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi .Srinivas’s works are in private collections in the US, India and Mauritius. Various awards and recognitions include the prestigious Dr.P.T. Reddy Award.
The signature style of his new body of work, with themes of landscapes, history and community life, achieve a universality through their abstract technique and the immediacy of their aesthetics.
Within India his work is closely followed and there is keen interest in acquisitions as and when they become available to the collectors. Internationally he has gathered a large number of admirers online. Srinivas is exploring gallery options to unveil his new body of work to afficionados and art lovers across the world.

The cornerstone of Badri's art is the restoration of wonderment, which he describes as a quality of amazement that we feel in the presence of the world, and an attendant ability to surrender ourselves before its enchantment. Succumbing to the insidious processes of habituation and familiarity as we all too often do, we forfeit this sense of wonderment; in William Blake's phrase, we have Permitted our "doors of perception" to become clouded over, and in consequence, cannot "see things, as they are, infinite". Badri's art provokes us into a renewal of attention to all that we take for granted in our experience.
Having lived in the hectic and crowded metropolitan centre of Bombay for fifty years, Badri has been at the front-line of this struggle between two orders of responsiveness, between banality and wonderment. His particular contribution to the cause of wonderment has emerged from his exercise of what is best described as a fabular imagination. His particular contribution to the cause of wonderment has emerged from his exercise of what is best described as a fabular imagination. This imagination does not seize the crucial themes of life and render them in fierce expressionistic strokes; nor does it drain away the pulse of the lived experience and signify rt. through a mathematical abstraction; nor yet does it translate emotion into a chaotic flow of gestures. Instead, it refracts the teachings of experience through such prisms as the tale, the fable and the parable.
